The Director isresponsible for coordinating all parts of thestudent conduct process based in the philosophies of restorative justice and inclusive excellence.Responsibilities include processing referrals,investigating incidents, assigning of charges, individual meetings withstudents,recruiting for and overseeing hearing and appeal boards. In addition, the Director will assist with various compliance functions to include CLERY, FERPA, and Title IX and will work closely with many campus departments including University Police, Residence Life, academic departments and Counseling Services, as well as the Oswego City Police Department. The Director will possess organizational, leadership, assessment, and crisis management skills; haveexperience working with diversestudents and staff; and have the ability to address challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism. The Director of Student Conduct will report to the Dean of Students. The Director of Student Conduct responsibilities will also include: Supervise AOD Counselor, administrative assistant and graduate assistants. Coordinate and supervise the College student conduct system including disciplinary policies along with department and College level procedures and practices.  Select, train and evaluate student staff, hearing bodies, hearing officers and advisors.  Initiate and execute nomination procedures for conduct appointments as required by the Code of Conduct and other related College procedures. Monitor due process procedures for all College student conduct venues.  Provide expert consultation to College community members.  Respond to questions and inquiries from the campus and the public regarding conduct procedures, student rights, and jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct.  Provide professional leadership and knowledge to the campus regarding relevant legal rulings, federal and state law updates, and changes in due process requirements.  Offer workshops and seminars to faculty and staff regarding student conduct issues. Collaborate with faculty, academic deans, and the affirmative action officer to process complaints related to student conduct, the student complaint system, and the academic complaint system. Coordinate conduct records in compliance with state and federal law and coordinate appropriate campus reports. Promote among students, faculty, and staff a collaborative approach regarding the expectations for student conduct in a learning community.  Promote the conduct system among students and encourage student use of conflict resolution strategies. Provide faculty with support for dealing with difficult students and class room management. Train, consult and collaborate with Residence Life and Housing on disciplinary conferences. Assist with conduct history checks, individual case management, follow up on sanctions, and preparation for hearings. Work in conjunction with Residence Life and Housing to design a community development outreach strategy to help students identify and resolve conflict. Serve as Title IX investigator, primarily for student related cases of sexual harassment and sexual assault. Support Dean of Students in meeting external compliance mandates related to Campus Security Act (Clery). Assist with Student Affairs and Enrollment Management divisional assessment for student conduct. Serve on committees as assigned. In addition, the Director of Student Conduct will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues. Requirements: RequiredQualifications: Master's Degree at time of application 3-5 years of full-time, professional experience in higher education with progressively increasing levels of responsibility Previous experience working in an educationally based Student Conduct Office in a college setting Experience working with a diverse college student population PreferredQualifications: Master's degree in College Student Personnel or Higher Education and Administration Knowledge and experience working with Title IX, CLERY, VAWA and an understanding of student development and student learning theories Experience developing and/or implementing training sessions Experience with Maxient.
